Korwin Zehr is the manager of Rock Stable Meats LLC. He is a co-owner with his brother Marcus and his grandfather Milo. This is the history of Rock Stable Meats.

In 1944 C. L. Ressler (Milo’s grandfather, Korwin & Marcus’s great-great-granfather) purchased 929 acres in southern Campbell County, Virginia, on Covered Bridge Road. The original deed referred to the property as “Airy Mont,” but after the purchase, the farm was referred to as “Rock Stable Farm” because a rock stable sat near Covered Bridge Road.

The farmhouse now sits on this site.

Further from the road sat a weather-beaten 18th century house, but since there were no other farm buildings on the farm, C. L. installed a sawmill and cut trees on his land and sawed the lumber to build a dairy barn.

C. L. began shipping milk in about 1948, the year Milo was born.  Milo’s father Dan, (C. L.’s son-in-law) purchased the farm from C. L. the month Milo turned seven years old.  Milo purchased the farm from his father in 1973 and Glen, Milo’s son, began managing the farm in 1998. Milo and Glen formed an LLC partnership January 1, 2016.

In November of 2018, in an attempt to diversify, Glen decided to get a steer slaughtered and sell the meat under the name of Rock Stable Meats. He also raised several pigs and pork was added to the selection. The dairy was sold in February of 2019, and in August Glen decided to move out of the area, at which time he sold his half of Rock Stable Meats to his nephews, Korwin and Marcus, with Korwin taking over managerial responsibilities.

Korwin and Marcus had each been raising several steers to sell each year for the past number of years. They have turned their time now to raising animals for Rock Stable Meats. These animals are raised on a portion of the original 929 acres that CL had bought back in 1944. They find it fairly enjoyable watching the animals transform over the months from cute, friendly babies to calm, elderly statesmen that are not sure what to make of these younger ones that get moved into the pen. Having the steers and several dairy cows scratches the itch of farming even though the Airy Mont Farm dairy has been sold.

We desire to effectively and efficiently continue to raise beef and pork in the best, most healthy way possible, with the purpose of providing you with healthy, tasty, high quality beef and pork.
